Bonsai Garden and historic temple and shrine (NI02)

A half day tour exploring meticulously made Bonsai Garden, visiting historic temple of Toji and Fushimi-Inari Shrine which is well known by its "thousand torii gates".

Bonsai Garden

"Kojyu en" means a wide variety of trees. In this Bonsai garden, there are about two thousands bonsai pots. The goal of Bonsai is to create miniature realistic representation of nature in the form of a tree. You can see a small universe through potted trees.

 

Toji Temple

Toji temple is the head temple of the Toji Shingon sect that has connections to Kobo Daishi Kuikai and one of the Kyoto’s many UNESCO world heritage sites. The five-storied pagoda in precincts has become a symbol of Kyoto, more than just symbol of Toji temple. The temple contains some of the finest esoteric sculptures in the country, as well as an inestimable collection of scriptures, traditional paintings and Buddhist statuary.

 

Fushimi-Inari Shrine

Fushimi-Inari Shrine is the headquarters of the 30,000 - 40,000 Inari shrines nationwide. It is the center for the belief in spiritual benefits that can be gained through observance of Buddhist teaching. Visitors to the shrine enter through a vermillion colored torii gate to the precinct and the main hall. Visitors pray for health while passing through the senbon-torii, the thousands of torii gates, which lining the approach behind the main hall. During the New Year season, Fushimi-Inari shrine is the most popular destination in the Kansai area.

Step2: IJCEE will reply and inform whether or not the program is available.
