[About the speaker]
Ms. Berber Oostenbrug who was an artist and taught art as a teacher, is now working at Japanese art store in Amsterdam. She wears kimono at work and has kituke class.
Since her father is an architect and loves Japanese design, and even she was a girl, she loved old fashioned fabrics and costumes, kimono inspires her a lot. Not only the colors and the patterns but also the shape that kimono is from one single bolt, no figure-lines are cut, versatile and individual. About 10 years ago she saw a kimono for sale and read a book, and started collecting kimonos mainly antiques.
This time, she privately travels to Japan and visits Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo to meet friends and check kimono markets. She said she felt honored to this opportunity and it must be fun to meet and talk kimono enthusiasts at this meeting.
